Meelu · Meelu: Desktop SEO and Marketing Agent That Audits Your Site, Plans Pages and Waits for Your Approval

Open Meelu

Meelu is a beta desktop app for macOS and Windows with an AI agent that crawls and audits your website, clusters keywords, drafts new pages, answers questions about your Search Console and Google Analytics data, and finds social conversations and leads worth a personal reply. It suggests and you decide: it asks before saving anything and never publishes, posts or sends for you. It suits solo founders, small marketing teams and agencies that want one per-website tool instead of per-seat SEO software.

Best for

Solo founders, small marketing teams and agencies on macOS or Windows who handle their own SEO and content, want an agent that explains its suggestions and asks before saving anything, and prefer paying per website over per seat

Not ideal for

Teams that want an agent to publish to their CMS or post and send for them, Linux users, organizations that require signed software or a vendor with a support team, and anyone who needs all marketing data kept off third-party servers

Who it's for

Solo founders, small marketing and content teams, and agencies that run SEO and content for their own or their clients' websites

Capabilities

  • Site crawl from your own computer that reads every page in your sitemap at no credit cost, and recrawls each website about once a day while the app is open
  • Site desk with sitemap coverage, broken pages (404/410), pages missing from the sitemap, orphan pages, and technical SEO checks on the raw HTML and the page as a browser renders it
  • Internal link suggestions and pillar page suggestions where several pages compete for one search, each with its reason
  • SEO desk built on Google Search Console and Google Analytics (read-only access): clicks, impressions, CTR, position, indexation, sessions, channels and landing pages
  • Keyword clusters checked against Google's top 10 results and scored for winnability, plus tracked keywords with twelve months of search demand, competitor domains and backlink opportunities
  • Content desk where the agent proposes a target keyword and internal links, drafts the page (title, H1, meta description, slug, body) and runs checks, while you edit and publish it yourself
  • Analytics desk: a chat over your Search Console, Analytics, crawl, audit and content data that answers with numbers, charts and a trust level, with answers saved as reports
  • Social Listening across Hacker News, Stack Exchange, Dev.to, GitHub Issues, Reddit, X, LinkedIn, Bluesky and Facebook, with each post's reason for surfacing and an optional reply draft you post yourself
  • Find Leads: up to 10 plain-language briefs per website, with sources across social posts, LinkedIn people search and web search, plus a stated reason and opening angle for each lead
  • Permission prompt before every save, change or delete (Allow, Always allow, Full access or No), with broader grants reset when you quit the app
  • Notes that store standing rules for a website, such as a competitor never to name, which the agent reads before every task on that site
  • Model choice per task with per-token prices shown, or your own Anthropic API key, which is stored encrypted on your computer and billed by Anthropic

Limitations

  • Beta software, updated continuously; Meelu says to expect bugs and rough edges
  • Installers are not yet signed or verified by Apple or Microsoft, so macOS, Windows and browsers show security warnings that you have to click past
  • The agent, crawls and Google syncing run only in the desktop app, which is available for macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel) and Windows 10/11 64-bit; no Linux build is offered
  • Crawls and the agent stop when you quit the app, so daily recrawls only happen while it is open
  • Not fully local: your account, websites, crawled pages, Google data, drafts and leads are stored on Meelu's servers, and keyword data, social searches and page classification run there
  • Never publishes for you: pages must be copied to your CMS and replies or messages sent by hand
  • No monthly plan or free tier; each website costs credits every day, and a website paused for 30 days for lack of credits is deleted with its data
  • External data (DataForSEO, Apify, OpenRouter) is charged per use on top of the website fee, and Find Leads runs and Apify-based social searches need a balance of at least $5 to start
  • The desktop app is not open source; only the companion meelu-analytics-mcp server is (MIT)
  • Built and supported by one person, with support by email and X rather than a support team

Use cases

  • Crawling a small business site to find broken pages, orphan pages, sitemap gaps and technical SEO issues, then fixing them in your own CMS
  • Turning a keyword list into clusters checked against Google's top 10 and picking the most winnable cluster for the next page
  • Having the agent draft a new page with a target keyword and internal links, then editing it and publishing it by hand
  • Asking which pages lost Search Console clicks in the last 28 days and saving the answer as a report
  • Finding Reddit, Hacker News or LinkedIn threads where people ask for a tool like yours and drafting a reply to post yourself
  • Running SEO for several client sites as an agency without per-seat fees

Our take

Meelu is a careful take on an SEO agent: it does the reading, counting and drafting, then shows evidence and asks before saving anything, and it deliberately leaves publishing, posting and sending to you. For a founder or small team that does its own SEO, that means one tool for technical audits, keyword clusters, page drafts and Search Console questions, priced per website per day rather than per seat. Two cautions. First, 'runs on your machine' covers the agent and the crawler, not your data, which is stored on Meelu's servers. Second, it is an early, unsigned beta built by one person, so treat it as a tool to try on your own site, not something to standardize a team on yet. The three-day free website and the free browser tools are a cheap way to see whether its suggestions hold up.

Who should use it

Founders, solo marketers and small agencies on macOS or Windows who want help with technical SEO, keyword planning and page drafting grounded in their own Search Console and Analytics data, and who want to approve every change.

Who should skip it

Teams that want an agent to publish, post or send on their behalf, Linux users, organizations that need signed software, a support team or strict data-residency guarantees, and anyone needing a mature, stable product today.

Strengths

  • Clear approval model: the agent asks before every save and never publishes, posts or sends on its own
  • Suggestions come with their evidence and answers come with a trust level, so you can check the reasoning
  • Per-website pricing with no seats, and crawling and Google data imports cost nothing
  • Optional bring-your-own Anthropic key, with the key kept on your device
  • Unusually detailed public documentation for a beta, including a plain account of what is stored on Meelu's servers

Weaknesses

  • Early beta from a single developer, with unsigned installers that trigger security warnings
  • No Linux build, and background crawls only run while the app is open
  • Daily per-website fees plus per-use data charges make monthly cost depend on usage
  • Despite the desktop app, most of your marketing data is stored on Meelu's servers
  • You still publish every page and send every reply yourself

Meelu pricing

Credits (one plan)

0.4 credits (US$0.40) per website per day

  • 1 credit = 1 US dollar; about 12 credits a month for each of the first five websites
  • 0.2 credits a day (about 6 a month) for every website after the fifth
  • External services charged per use at the price the service charges: DataForSEO for keyword, ranking, backlink and search results data, Apify for social and LinkedIn searches, OpenRouter for AI models that classify pages
  • No seats, tiers or plan levels; the whole team uses it without seat fees

Free tier limits: No free tier. The first website on a new account is free for its first three days; external data and AI services still need credits, or you can run the agent on your own Anthropic key. The free browser tools on meelu.tech need no account, and a demo with sample data runs at meelu.tech/demo without installing anything.

Note: The website fee is taken every 24 hours for each website you add and stops when you remove it. AI model calls on Meelu's models are charged at the model's cost, which Meelu says carries no markup; with your own Anthropic key, agent model calls are billed to your Anthropic account, but keyword data, social searches and page classification still use credits. Crawling your site and importing your Google data cost nothing. Find Leads runs and Apify-based social searches start only with a balance of at least $5. When credits run out, websites that cannot pay for the next day are paused, and a website paused for 30 days is deleted with its data. Meelu's own example: seven websites for 30 days cost $72 plus usage.

Where Meelu excels

Founder doing their own SEO

A founder can crawl the site, fix the broken and orphan pages it reports, pick the most winnable keyword cluster and have the agent draft the page, approving each step without hiring an agency.

Agency managing several client sites

An agency can add each client site for a daily fee with no per-seat charges, and use the Analytics desk to answer client questions from Search Console and Analytics data, with saved reports to share.

Finding conversations to join

A small SaaS team can describe the threads it wants to answer, let Social Listening find matching posts on Reddit, Hacker News or LinkedIn with the reason each one surfaced, and reply by hand.

Meelu vs. competitors

Meelu vs. Omnia Agent

Omnia Agent works from Omnia's tracking of how your brand appears in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI answers, and with your approval it can publish through connected CMSs and send outreach. It is hosted and sold inside Omnia plans from €79 a month. Meelu is a desktop app focused on Google search and your own site: it crawls your pages, reads Search Console and Analytics, clusters keywords and drafts pages, never publishes or sends, and charges per website per day.

Frequently asked questions

What is Meelu?

Meelu is a desktop app for macOS and Windows with an AI agent for website marketing. It crawls and audits your site, works with your Google Search Console and Analytics data, clusters and tracks keywords, drafts new web pages, answers questions about your data, and finds social conversations and leads worth a personal reply. It is in beta and built in the open by one developer.

Does Meelu change my website or post for me?

No. Meelu never publishes pages, changes your live site, posts on social media, sends messages or changes anything in your Google accounts. It shows a permission prompt before it saves, changes or deletes anything in your Meelu workspace, and you copy pages and replies out and publish or send them yourself.

How much does Meelu cost?

Meelu has one credit-based plan, where 1 credit equals US$1. Each of your first five websites costs 0.4 credits a day (about $12 a month) and each one after that 0.2 credits a day. External services such as DataForSEO, Apify and OpenRouter are charged per use on top. There are no seat fees. The first website on a new account is free for three days.

Does Meelu run entirely on my computer?

Partly. The agent, the site crawler, your Google sign-in and your own Anthropic key stay on your computer. Your account, websites, crawled pages, Google data, drafts and leads are stored on Meelu's servers so they sync across machines, and keyword data, social searches and page classification run on those servers.

Can I use my own AI key with Meelu?

Yes, an Anthropic API key. Add it on the Connections screen and pick a default Claude model, and agent model calls then go from your device to Anthropic and are billed to your Anthropic account. The key is encrypted on your computer and not sent to Meelu. Keyword data, social searches and page classification still use Meelu credits.

Is Meelu open source?

The desktop app is not. Meelu's open source piece is meelu-analytics-mcp, an MIT-licensed MCP server with 45 analysis tools that works with any MCP-capable assistant.

What platforms does Meelu run on?

Meelu is a desktop app for macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel) and Windows 10/11 64-bit. There is no Linux build. The installers are not yet signed with Apple or Microsoft, so you have to click past a security warning the first time you download and open the app.

Meelu vs Omnia Agent: what is the difference?

Omnia Agent is a hosted generative engine optimization agent built on Omnia's monitoring of how your brand appears in AI answers, and with your approval it can publish through connected CMSs and send outreach. Meelu focuses on Google search: it crawls your site, uses your Search Console and Analytics data, and drafts pages, but it never publishes or sends anything, and you pay per website per day instead of a monthly plan.

About Meelu

Meelu is organized into desks, each with its own job. You install the desktop app, sign in with a Meelu account, add your domain and run a crawl, which reads every page your sitemap lists from your own computer and internet connection. The Site desk then reports sitemap coverage, broken pages, orphan pages and technical SEO checks on both the raw HTML and the rendered page, and suggests internal links and pillar pages. Once you connect Google Search Console and Google Analytics with read-only access, the SEO desk shows search performance, indexation and traffic, groups keywords into clusters checked against Google's top 10 and scores how winnable each is, tracks keywords, and lists competitors and backlink opportunities. The Content desk drafts web pages (title, H1, meta description, slug, target keyword and body) from your site and search data, and you copy the finished page to your site yourself. The Analytics desk is a chat over your own data that answers with charts and a note on how far to trust each answer, and answers can be saved as reports. Social Listening searches platforms such as Reddit, Hacker News, LinkedIn, X and Bluesky for posts where a reply from you fits, and Find Leads looks for people worth a personal message, with the reason for each. The agent can read freely, but it shows a permission prompt before it saves, changes or deletes anything in your workspace, and it never publishes pages, posts replies, sends messages or changes your Google accounts. The 'runs on your machine' framing needs care: the agent, the crawler, your Google sign-in tokens and your own Anthropic key stay on your computer, but your account, websites, crawled pages, Google data and drafts are stored on Meelu's servers, and keyword data, social searches and page classification run there too. Pricing is credits only (1 credit = US$1): 0.4 credits a day per website for the first five websites and 0.2 after that, plus per-use charges for DataForSEO, Apify and OpenRouter, with no seat fees, and you can run the agent on your own Anthropic API key. The tradeoffs are that it is an early beta from a single builder, the installers are not yet signed with Apple or Microsoft, there is no Linux build, the app must stay open for daily crawls, and the app itself is not open source. Only its companion analytics MCP server is.

Updates from Meelu

LaunchMeelu announces it is building in the open and releases meelu-analytics-mcp

Meelu's first blog post described the planned desktop marketing agent and released meelu-analytics-mcp, an MIT-licensed MCP server with 45 analysis tools that any MCP-capable assistant can use. A later update to the post says the desktop app is now out for macOS and Windows, that outreach was dropped from the plan, and that the app itself is not open source.
