Comfy Org · Comfy Agent: In-App AI Agent That Builds, Edits, and Runs ComfyUI Workflows
Comfy Agent is a chat agent built into ComfyUI that builds, edits, debugs, and runs node-based image, video, and audio workflows from plain-language requests, working on the canvas alongside you. It suits ComfyUI users and creators who want the control of a full generation pipeline without wiring every node by hand. It is available on Comfy Cloud today, with local Comfy Desktop support announced as coming soon.
Best for
ComfyUI users and creators on Comfy Cloud who want an agent to find models, wire, debug, and run node workflows while they keep full control of the graph, and newcomers who want ComfyUI's control without learning every node first
Not ideal for
People who just want finished images or video from a prompt with no pipeline to look at, users who need the agent on their own GPU and custom nodes today, and anyone who needs a fully offline or self-hosted agent
Who it's for
ComfyUI users, digital artists, VFX and animation creators, and marketers building image and video pipelines on Comfy Cloud
Comfy Agent goes after ComfyUI's biggest barrier, which is not image quality but the work of choosing models, wiring nodes, and chasing errors. Because it edits the real graph instead of hiding it, the output stays reproducible and inspectable, which suits people who care about craft and will tune what the agent builds. For now the value is tied to Comfy Cloud: the local version that would bring your own GPU, models, and custom nodes is still on a waitlist, and Cloud usage means paying for agent tokens on top of GPU time. Start in Ask mode on a few real workflows to see how much each session spends before switching to Auto.
Who should use it
Existing Comfy Cloud users who want faster workflow building and debugging, newcomers who want ComfyUI's control without learning every node first, and creators in animation, VFX, and product imagery who iterate on the same pipelines and want reusable skills.
Who should skip it
People who want a finished asset from a prompt and do not care about the pipeline, local ComfyUI users who depend on their own GPU and custom nodes until Desktop support ships, and teams that need an agent that runs fully offline or on a language model of their choice.

Free tier limits: Free initial agent tokens for several chats. A free Comfy Cloud start includes 5 workflow runs on Cloud GPUs with no credit card; after that, running workflows on Cloud requires a paid plan.
Note: Agent tokens are charged from the same Comfy Credits pool used for generation, and running workflows also spends credits on active GPU time and Partner Nodes. Comfy publishes agent token rates in credits only, not in dollars. Plan credits reset each billing cycle, while top-up credits last a year.

Available models
Getting a first workflow running
A newcomer can ask for a text-to-image workflow with a Save Image node, have the agent pick an available model and validate the graph, approve the run, and then learn by opening the nodes it chose.
Fixing and refactoring an existing pipeline
The agent reads the whole graph and its errors, explains what the workflow does and where it is slow, and changes only the named part, so working settings are not lost.
Repeatable production runs
Saving rules such as canvas size and validation steps as a personal skill, and re-running a saved workflow on a batch of images, keeps product or ad output consistent across sessions.
Comfy Agent vs. Krea Agent
Krea Agent is a chat agent that plans a multi-step creative job, chooses models from Krea's catalog of more than 150, and returns finished images, video, and audio in a shared library. Comfy Agent builds and runs ComfyUI node workflows on your canvas, so each result comes with an editable pipeline, at the cost of being tied to the models and nodes your Comfy Cloud environment supports. Krea Agent fits teams that want deliverables from a brief, and Comfy Agent fits creators who want to control and reuse the pipeline.
What is Comfy Agent?
Comfy Agent is a chat agent built into ComfyUI by Comfy Org. You describe what you want, and it finds templates, models, and nodes, builds or edits the workflow on your canvas, validates it, runs it with your permission, and returns the outputs. It also explains and debugs existing workflows.
How much does Comfy Agent cost?
New users get free initial tokens for several chats. After that, agent tokens are charged from your Comfy Credits balance at per-token rates (for Opus 4.8: 1.055 credits per 1K input tokens and 5.275 credits per 1K output tokens). Running the workflows it builds on Cloud GPUs spends credits as well, and Comfy Cloud plans start at $20 a month (Standard), with Creator at $35 and Pro at $100.
Do I need a Comfy Cloud subscription to use Comfy Agent?
Not to chat with it. Comfy's docs say the agent needs a positive Comfy Credits balance but not necessarily a subscription plan. Running workflows on Comfy Cloud is different: a free start includes 5 runs on Cloud GPUs, and after that Comfy Cloud requires a paid plan to run workflows.
Can Comfy Agent run locally on my own GPU?
Not yet. It is generally available on Comfy Cloud, and support for local ComfyUI in Comfy Desktop is announced as coming soon, with a waitlist. Comfy's docs say that even locally, your messages and relevant workflow information will be processed by Comfy's online service, while local nodes run on your hardware.
What model powers Comfy Agent?
Comfy says it uses frontier models from Anthropic, and its pricing table lists Opus 4.8. There is no model picker yet; Comfy lists LLM selection as coming soon and local LLM support as on its roadmap.
Will Comfy Agent run generations without asking?
Only if you allow it. In Ask mode, the default, it requests approval before each workflow run. In Auto mode it runs and iterates on its own. Either way, it can edit the selected workflow.
Comfy Agent vs Comfy MCP: what is the difference?
Comfy Agent is the agent inside the ComfyUI interface, editing the canvas with you. Comfy MCP connects your own external agent, such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex, to Comfy Cloud or a local ComfyUI so that agent can search models and run workflows.
Comfy Agent vs Krea Agent: what is the difference?
Krea Agent plans a creative job in chat and picks models from Krea's catalog, returning finished assets. Comfy Agent builds and runs ComfyUI node workflows on your canvas, so you get the editable pipeline behind each result and can adjust any node yourself.
ComfyUI is the open-source node-graph tool many creators use for diffusion and video pipelines, and its power comes with a cost: finding the right model, wiring dozens of nodes, and debugging errors takes time. Comfy Agent, launched by Comfy Org on October 1, 2026, is a panel inside ComfyUI that does that work from a chat. You pick a workflow tab in the Agent panel and describe what you want. On a blank tab, it searches for a matching template before building from individual nodes. On an existing workflow, it changes only the part you name, for example adding an upscaling stage or switching to a different model while keeping the sampler settings. It searches the templates, models, and nodes available in your environment, adds, connects, and configures nodes, checks connections, model names, and required inputs before a run, and separates workflow errors from inputs only you can provide. Runs follow a permission you set: Ask needs approval before each run, and Auto lets it run and iterate on its own. It can inspect images, read video and audio properties, do simple media edits such as trimming or joining clips, save personal skills from plain language or a pasted SKILL.md, use Comfy's public skills, and hold up to five chats at once. You can keep editing the canvas while it works, and every result stays an editable workflow with its nodes, seeds, samplers, and models visible, which is the main difference from chat tools that only return a file. The agent runs on Anthropic models (the pricing table lists Opus 4.8), and its tokens are charged in Comfy Credits from the same pool used for generation, after some free initial chats. The tradeoffs: it is Cloud-only for now, so it is limited to Cloud-supported custom nodes and models, even the coming local version sends your messages and workflow information to Comfy's online service, there is no choice of language model yet, cost comes from two meters (agent tokens and GPU runtime), running workflows on Cloud needs a paid plan once the free runs are used, and Comfy still labels the agent as beta.
Comfy Org released Comfy Agent to everyone on Comfy Cloud, with free initial chats and token usage charged in Comfy Credits afterwards. Support for local ComfyUI in Comfy Desktop was announced as coming in a few weeks, along with agent-built custom nodes and more model options.
