Best for

Small and mid-sized businesses and agencies, especially in Germany and the wider EU, that want a no-code AI phone agent able to answer, book and follow up on WhatsApp, with telephony and models included in one per-minute price

Not ideal for

Enterprises that need SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification or very high call concurrency out of the box, and developer teams that want to choose and bill every model, voice and carrier themselves

Who it's for

Owners and operations leads at clinics, law and tax offices, trades, real estate and e-commerce businesses, plus agencies that build and resell AI phone agents

Capabilities

  • Build agents with a system prompt, the visual flow builder (conversational pathways for inbound and outbound), or by describing the job to Milian, the in-app AI that writes the flow, prompt and guardrails
  • Inbound answering and outbound batch-call campaigns from the same agent, with one campaign able to span voice, WhatsApp, SMS and email
  • Real-time appointment booking during the call in Famulor Booking, Google Calendar, Outlook, Exchange, Cal.com, Calendly and GoHighLevel, including rescheduling and cancelling Cal.com bookings
  • Cold and warm call transfer to staff, with hold music, a supervisor briefing and automatic warm-transfer retries, plus agent-to-agent handoff, DTMF input and post-call data extraction
  • Phone number marketplace (local, mobile and national numbers), carrier import from Twilio, Telnyx or Vonage, and BYO SIP trunks or PBX connections such as 3CX, Asterisk, Starface, Genesys Cloud, Five9 and Aircall
  • Four engine modes (Pipeline, Realtime, Half-Cascade and Translate), voices from ElevenLabs, Cartesia, Fish Audio, Inworld and other providers, and voice cloning
  • Knowledge base from documents and a website crawl with auto-sync, caller memory across conversations, and multilingual agents that switch between configured languages mid-call
  • Quality tooling: live transcripts with PII redaction, listen-in, whisper and take-over, simulation tests before publishing, AI QA scorecards and post-call analysis
  • REST API, webhooks on call events, an official CLI, and an MCP server at app.famulor.io/mcp for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP clients
  • White-label workspaces for agencies to resell under their own domain, branding and pricing (a paid add-on, included in Scale)

Limitations

  • Low concurrency on smaller plans: pay-as-you-go allows 1 simultaneous call, Plus 2, Pro 3 and Agency 5, with extra lines sold as an add-on
  • Phone numbers are billed separately and priced by country; a standard German local number is €2.50/month plus a €5.99 setup fee, toll-free numbers are not sold, and many countries require identity or address verification first
  • The database and app are hosted in Frankfurt, but the default Global AI region does not restrict model requests to EU endpoints, voice workers also run in the US, and several sub-processors are US companies, so EU-only processing has to be configured
  • No SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification is listed in Famulor's Trust Center
  • Included plan minutes do not roll over to the next month
  • Manual model selection requires the paid Fallbacks & Guardrails add-on; otherwise Famulor picks compatible models automatically
  • Importing from Retell AI, Vapi or Synthflow copies prompts and basic settings only; tools, flows, knowledge, phone numbers and routing must be rebuilt
  • Cloud-only: no self-hosted deployment is documented

Use cases

  • Answering a medical practice or law office phone line 24/7, booking or moving appointments, and sending an SMS confirmation
  • Calling new web leads within minutes of a form fill, qualifying them, and booking a sales call in the rep's calendar
  • Following up on a missed or cut-short call over WhatsApp and calling back at the time the customer chose
  • Running outbound reminder, reactivation or win-back campaigns across voice, SMS and email
  • Screening calls and warm-transferring urgent ones to staff with a short briefing before connecting
  • Reselling a white-labeled AI phone assistant to an agency's own clients

Our take

Famulor is a finished product rather than a voice-agent toolkit. A business can go from sign-up to an agent that answers, books into its calendar and follows up on WhatsApp without assembling providers, and the bundled euro per-minute price makes costs easier to forecast than component billing. The tradeoffs show up at scale and in compliance reviews: self-serve plans cap simultaneous calls at one to five, numbers are billed separately, and the 'hosted in Frankfurt' message covers the database and app, not every model call unless you switch the workspace to the EU region. It is a strong option for SMBs and agencies in the DACH region. Enterprises that need audited certifications, and engineering teams that want to pick every component, should look at the alternatives.

Who should use it

Small and mid-sized businesses, such as practices, law and tax offices, trades, real estate and e-commerce, that miss calls or need fast lead follow-up and want an AI phone agent running in days without developers. Agencies that want to resell a white-labeled voice agent are a second good fit.

Who should skip it

Contact centers that need dozens of simultaneous calls on day one, buyers whose security review requires SOC 2 or ISO 27001 reports, and engineering teams that want to bring their own model, voice and carrier accounts and control the whole stack in code.

Strengths

  • No-code setup with a flow builder and an in-app assistant that drafts agents
  • One per-minute price covers model, voice, transcription and telephony
  • Booking, transfers, WhatsApp follow-up and outbound campaigns built in
  • Database and app hosted in Frankfurt, with a DPA and an EU-only AI region option
  • REST API, webhooks, CLI and MCP server for teams that want to automate it
  • Free start with 800 credits and no credit card

Weaknesses

  • Only 1 to 5 simultaneous calls on self-serve plans without add-ons
  • Phone numbers and several capacity limits cost extra
  • No SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification listed
  • EU-only model processing must be configured; Global routing is the default
  • White-label and manual model choice are paid add-ons

Free tier limits: Pay-as-you-go starts at €0 with 800 credits and no credit card. A voice call uses 30 credits per minute, so the starter credits cover roughly 26 minutes of calls.

Note: Usage is billed per second from a prepaid credit balance. The per-minute rate includes the language model, voice, transcription and telephony; phone numbers are extra and priced by country (for example €2.50/month plus a €5.99 setup fee for a German local number). Included minutes do not roll over, and there are no setup or onboarding fees. Extra concurrent lines, knowledge bases, custom tools, workspaces, white-label and Fallbacks & Guardrails are sold as add-ons. Prices exclude VAT. Pricing changed on August 15, 2026, and existing customers keep their old plan through December 31, 2026; some older Famulor pages still show the previous €0.15/min rate.

Where Famulor excels

After-hours receptionist for a practice or law office

The agent answers from the practice's knowledge base, books or moves appointments in the connected calendar, and warm-transfers urgent calls, so no call goes to voicemail.

Speed-to-lead calling

A new CRM lead can trigger an outbound call within the calling window, and if the lead cannot talk, the agent moves the conversation to WhatsApp and calls back at the agreed time.

Moving off a developer voice stack

Teams on Retell AI, Vapi or Synthflow can import assistant prompts and settings into Famulor, then rebuild tools and numbers in a no-code environment with bundled pricing.

Famulor vs. competitors

Famulor vs. Vapi

Vapi is an API-first platform for developers: you configure speech, model and telephony providers and pay Vapi's $0.05/min hosting fee plus each provider's costs. Famulor is no-code, bundles those components into one euro per-minute rate, and adds booking, WhatsApp follow-up and campaigns. Choose Vapi for full control in code; choose Famulor to launch without engineers.

Famulor vs. ElevenLabs Agents

ElevenLabs Agents centers on ElevenLabs' own voices, charges per call minute in US dollars with LLM usage billed separately, and connects to telephony through providers such as Twilio or SIP. Famulor includes the model, voice and telephony in its per-minute rate, offers ElevenLabs among several voice providers, and adds a number marketplace, native booking and campaign tools aimed at SMBs.

Frequently asked questions

What does Famulor do?

Famulor runs AI agents that answer and make phone calls for a business. An agent can answer questions from your knowledge base, book or move appointments in your calendar, update your CRM, transfer the caller to a person, and follow up afterwards on WhatsApp, SMS or email. You build it without code in the dashboard or flow builder.

How much does Famulor cost?

Pay-as-you-go starts free with 800 credits and then costs €0.18 per minute, including model, voice, transcription and telephony. Monthly plans are Plus (€35, or €27 billed yearly, 100 minutes), Pro (€129 or €103, 667 minutes) and Agency (€259 or €216, 1,667 minutes); the quoted Scale tier starts from €0.05 per minute. Phone numbers are billed separately by country.

Is Famulor GDPR compliant and hosted in the EU?

Famulor describes itself as GDPR compliant, and its database, authentication and application hosting run in Frankfurt, with a signed DPA available in the platform. AI model processing follows a workspace region setting: EU restricts models to EU endpoints, while the default Global setting does not. Voice workers run in the EU and US, and some sub-processors are US companies covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses. The Trust Center does not list SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification.

Can I keep my existing phone number?

Yes. You can connect your own SIP trunk or PBX (Famulor documents providers such as Twilio, Telnyx, Vonage, Plivo, Sinch, Bandwidth and Easybell, and PBXs such as 3CX, Asterisk and Starface), import numbers from Twilio, Telnyx or Vonage, or buy a new local, mobile or national number in the marketplace. Toll-free numbers are not sold.

Which languages does Famulor support?

Famulor lists 120 speech-recognition languages. The agent's reply voice must also support the language, so availability depends on the voice provider, and an agent can switch mid-call only between the primary and secondary languages you configure.

Does Famulor have an API or MCP server?

Yes. There is a REST API for calls, assistants, campaigns, phone numbers and knowledge bases, webhooks on call events, a CLI, and an MCP server at app.famulor.io/mcp. Claude and ChatGPT also have official read-only Famulor connectors for reviewing assistants and call history.

Famulor vs Vapi: what is the difference?

Vapi is an API-first developer platform where you choose the speech, model and telephony providers yourself and pay their costs on top of Vapi's $0.05/min hosting fee. Famulor is a no-code product with those components bundled into one euro per-minute price, plus booking, WhatsApp and campaign tools built in. Famulor can import Vapi assistants, but only prompts and basic settings carry over.

About Famulor

Famulor, built by BEK Service GmbH in Kempten, Germany, is a self-serve platform for running AI phone agents. You describe the job to Milian, the in-app assistant, or build the agent with a system prompt or the visual flow builder, attach a knowledge base made from documents and a website crawl, and give it actions: book a slot in Famulor Booking, Cal.com, Calendly, Google Calendar or Outlook, look up or write CRM records mid-call, collect keypad input, or hand the caller to a human with a cold or warm transfer. The same agent can then answer inbound calls on a number bought in Famulor's marketplace or routed from your own SIP trunk or PBX, run outbound calling campaigns, and keep the thread going on WhatsApp, SMS, email, Slack, Teams and other channels. That breadth is the main difference from developer platforms like Vapi, where you assemble and bill speech, model and telephony providers yourself. Famulor bundles them into one per-minute rate: €0.18 per minute pay-as-you-go after 800 free starter credits, or monthly plans from €35 (€27 billed yearly) that include minutes and lower the extra-minute rate, down to a quoted Scale tier from €0.05 per minute. Phone numbers, concurrency above the plan limit and some features are billed on top, and lower plans allow only one to three simultaneous calls. Developers are not shut out: there is a REST API, webhooks, a CLI and an MCP server that lets Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor build and inspect agents, plus an importer for assistants from Retell AI, Vapi and Synthflow. The EU angle needs reading closely. The database and application run in Frankfurt and a signed DPA is available, but AI model processing follows a workspace region setting (Global, EU or US), voice workers run in both the EU and US, several sub-processors are US companies, and the Trust Center does not list SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification. Famulor fits clinics, law and tax offices, trades and agencies in the DACH region and beyond that want a booked appointment at the end of the call. It is a weaker fit for teams that need certified enterprise compliance or full control of every model and carrier.

Updates from Famulor

IntegrationRead-only ChatGPT plugin on the OpenAI Marketplace

Famulor released an official plugin for ChatGPT and Codex that can read assistant configurations and conversation history for analysis. It cannot change assistants, start calls or launch campaigns; full access still uses a custom MCP connection.

IntegrationRead-only connector in Claude's directory

Famulor was listed in Claude's connector directory with read-only access to assistants and call history, for use in Claude, Cowork and Claude Code. A custom connector to app.famulor.io/mcp is needed to create or edit assistants.

New FeatureAutomatic warm-transfer retries

Assistants can now retry a failed warm transfer automatically, with a set number of attempts, a retry delay and a fallback when no one picks up.

PricingNew pricing

Famulor changed its pricing on August 15, 2026. Pay-as-you-go is now €0.18/min after 800 starter credits, and plans run Plus, Pro, Agency and a quoted Scale tier from €0.05/min. Existing customers keep their current plan and pricing through December 31, 2026.
