Hera Video, Inc. · Hera: AI Creative Canvas for Editable Motion Graphics, Ads, and Launch Videos
Hera is an AI creative canvas where you brief several AI agents at once to generate images, layered designs, and editable motion graphics such as ads, animated charts, explainers, and product launch videos. Every result can be split into editable layers and refined by prompt or by hand, and a REST API and MCP server let apps and coding agents generate videos. It suits startups, product marketers, creators, and agencies who need branded motion assets without After Effects.
Best for
Startup founders, product marketers, performance marketers, agencies, and creators who need many on-brand ads, launch videos, animated charts, and overlays, and who want editable layers rather than a flat generated clip
Not ideal for
Teams that need cinematic or photoreal generated footage, videos narrated by AI voiceover, editing of their own recorded footage, published plan prices and limits, a completed SOC 2 report, or a self-hosted tool
Who it's for
Startup founders, product and performance marketers, agencies and freelancers, content creators, educators, and developers automating video generation through the API or MCP server
Hera's distinguishing choice is editability. Most AI video tools hand back a flat clip, while Hera returns drafts you can split into layers, correct one element at a time, and re-lay out for each placement, which matters when ads must match a brand system. Running several agents on one board makes it practical to explore many angles and keep the best, and the API and MCP server let the same output come from a coding agent or a pipeline. It is a narrower tool than it may look, though. Hera itself steers buyers toward structured motion such as typography, charts, UI, and explainers rather than cinematic footage, AI voiceover is not documented, and most plan pricing is unpublished, so test it on a real brief before you commit a team to it.
Who should use it
Startup and SaaS teams producing launch videos and feature announcements, performance marketers who need many on-brand static and motion ad variants, agencies building brand motion systems for clients, creators who add overlays and animated charts to their videos, and developers who want motion graphics generated from code or a coding agent.
Who should skip it
Teams that need photoreal or cinematic generated footage, narrated videos with AI voiceover, editing of recorded footage, procurement that requires a SOC 2 report today, or published plan prices and limits before signing up.

Free tier limits: Hera lets you start for free, but it does not publish the free allowance.
Note: Hera has no public pricing page (hera.video/pricing returned a 404) and does not publish plan limits; the $40 Pro price comes from its affiliate page. Its terms describe recurring subscription billing with credits: subscriptions can be cancelled at any time, fees are non-refundable and partial billing periods are not refunded unless required by law, credits stay available until the end of the billing period after you cancel, and credits are forfeited if Hera terminates an account for a breach. API pricing is not documented separately. Checked against hera.video/affiliates and hera.video/terms on November 3, 2026.

Paid social ad testing for an app
Hera's own walkthrough for an app builder ran eleven short prompts with six drafts each on one board, kept the best twenty, fixed details by selecting single ads, and turned them into storyboards and motion ads, which shows how a small team can produce many on-brand variants without a designer per ad.
Launch video for a SaaS feature
The Product Launch workflow starts from the product website or a prompt and produces an editable draft, so a product marketer can adjust copy, timing, and colours before posting it to Product Hunt, LinkedIn, or a landing page.
Automated video generation from a coding agent
With the MCP server connected, a developer can ask Claude Code or Cursor for a short 1080p MP4, and the agent submits the job, polls for status, and returns the download URL.
Hera vs. Pexo
Pexo is a conversational video agent that plans a script, routes each step to generative video models, and delivers a finished video with voiceover, music, and captions. Hera focuses on design-led visuals: drafts on a canvas that can be split into editable layers, with no documented AI voiceover generation. Pexo suits narrated, footage-style videos; Hera suits branded ads and motion graphics you want to adjust element by element.
Hera vs. OpenMontage
OpenMontage is a free, open-source production system that runs inside your own coding assistant, renders locally, and bills you through your own provider keys. Hera is a hosted, closed-source canvas with a browser editor, brand kits, and a paid subscription, plus an MCP server for coding agents. OpenMontage suits developers who want a local, controllable pipeline; Hera suits teams who want a visual editor and a managed service.
Hera vs. Krea Agent
Krea Agent plans creative jobs and picks image, video, and audio models from Krea's catalog to produce campaign assets. Hera covers some of the same ad work but is built around brand kits, editable layered designs, and structured motion graphics rather than a catalog of generative models.
What is Hera?
Hera is an AI creative canvas from Hera Video, Inc., a Y Combinator company. You generate images, designs, and motion graphics on one board, direct several AI agents at the same time, and refine the results through prompts or editable layers. It is aimed at ads, product launch videos, animated infographics, explainers, overlays, and other branded motion assets.
How do the AI agents in Hera work?
Each prompt you give on the canvas starts an agent that returns several drafts, and you can send the next prompt before the first finishes, so multiple agents work on the board at once. You then select a draft to change one part, use another ad as a reference, turn a draft into editable layers, ask for other aspect ratios, or have Hera build a storyboard and animate it.
How much does Hera cost?
Hera is free to start, and paid plans are recurring subscriptions that use credits. Hera does not publish a pricing page or plan limits. Its affiliate page mentions a Standard plan and states that Pro costs $40 a month. Under its terms, fees are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise, and partial billing periods are not refunded.
Does Hera have an API or MCP server?
Yes. The REST API at api.hera.video/v1 creates asynchronous video jobs from a prompt, optional reference images or video, a saved style, and uploaded assets, and returns download URLs when rendering finishes. The MCP server at mcp.hera.video/mcp exposes create_video, get_video, and upload_file, and Hera documents setup for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor, and VS Code. Both use an API key sent in the x-api-key header; the docs say keys are created in the app's developer settings and can also be requested from Hera.
Can I edit what Hera generates?
Yes. You can select a draft and describe a change so only that part is regenerated, or turn the draft into a design where every element sits on its own layer and can be edited by hand. In motion graphics you can adjust text, timing, motion, colours, assets, and composition.
Can I use Hera videos commercially?
Yes. Hera says animations and motion graphics made with it can be used commercially, including for ads, social media, presentations, and client work. Exports are available as MP4, GIF, or transparent MOV in the editor, and the API also offers ProRes and WebM.
Is Hera SOC 2 compliant?
No. Hera's security page says it does not currently have a SOC 2 report, that readiness work is in progress, and that it will publish SOC 2 claims only after an independent audit. It also says customer uploads and content are not used for model training without explicit prior consent.

EXTREMO LIMITED
Founders, indie hackers, SaaS product marketers, e-commerce sellers, and small content teams who need finished launch videos, product ads, explainers, and social clips from a brief or a URL, without a production team or timeline editing
FreemiumCalesthio (open source)
Developers, technical creators, educators, and small teams who already use an AI coding assistant, are comfortable installing Python and Node.js tooling, and want an inspectable, local video pipeline with approval gates and their own choice of media providers
FreeHera puts image generation, graphic design, and animation on one board. A typical run starts with a brand kit: paste your website and Hera pulls your logo, colours, fonts, and pictures, then applies them to everything it makes. You write a prompt with the angles you want, for example product, numbers, and people, and an agent returns several drafts; you do not have to wait for them, so you can start the next prompt straight away and keep multiple agents working on the same canvas. To fix something you select the draft and say what should change, and only that part is regenerated. Dropping another company's ad on the board gives you your own version of the same idea. When you want manual control, you ask Hera to make a draft editable and every element lands on its own layer, so you can change text or move the logo as in a design tool, then ask for 1:1, 4:5, or 9:16 versions that are laid out again rather than cropped. For motion, you ask for a storyboard, review it, and have it animated. The AI Motion Designer and Product Launch workflows cover the same ground for animated typography, charts, maps, overlays, UI animation, explainers, and launch videos built from a prompt or a product website, with editable text, timing, colours, assets, and composition. Hera says itself that it is strongest for this kind of structured, design-led motion rather than cinematic text-to-video. Developers get an asynchronous REST API (submit a prompt and up to ten output configurations, then poll for download URLs) and a hosted MCP server, so Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or VS Code can generate a video on request. The company is backed by Y Combinator (Summer 2025 batch). The tradeoffs: there is no public pricing page (Hera's affiliate page puts Pro at $40 a month, but other plan prices and limits are not published); AI voiceover generation is not documented, although you can supply your own audio files; Hera says it does not have a SOC 2 report yet; and there is no self-hosted option.
