Robinhood Agents

Robinhood (Robinhood Labs, LLC) · Robinhood Agents: Built-In AI Trading Agent in the Robinhood App

Open Robinhood Agents

Robinhood Agents lets Robinhood customers build an AI agent inside the Robinhood mobile app that researches markets, analyzes their portfolio, and proposes or places long trades in stocks, options, and crypto from a separate, dedicated agentic account. It suits self-directed U.S. investors who already use Robinhood and want an agent to help with research and order entry under instructions and limits they set.

Best for

Self-directed U.S. Robinhood customers who want an in-app agent to help research stocks, options, and crypto and prepare orders they review, from a separately funded account

Not ideal for

Anyone looking for investment advice or a managed portfolio, investors who do not want to be responsible for an AI's trades, customers outside the U.S. or without a Robinhood individual account, and traders who need short selling or margin borrowing through the agent

Who it's for

Self-directed U.S. retail investors who already hold a Robinhood individual investing account

Capabilities

  • Built-in AI agent in the Robinhood mobile app, set up in a few steps with no MCP linking or API keys
  • Dedicated Agentic account (limited margin or cash) that you fund separately; the agent can view your other Robinhood accounts but can place orders only in this one
  • Places long equity, options, and crypto orders using market (share or dollar), limit, stop limit, and stop market order types, with take-profit/stop-loss orders listed where the asset and account are eligible
  • Trade approvals on by default: the agent proposes orders and you place them; turning approvals off lets it place eligible trades without per-order confirmation
  • Market data tools including real-time quotes, Level 2 order books for up to 4 stocks, technical indicators (RSI, MACD, Bollinger Bands), earnings calendars and transcripts, SEC filings, analyst ratings, and disclosed politician trades
  • Portfolio tools for positions, tax lots, real-time buying power, and realized P&L by asset class
  • Creates and manages watchlists, market scans, and alerts, and can cancel open orders or exercise options
  • Answers with live interactive charts, tables, order tickets, watchlists, and scan results
  • Robinhood-authored skills (such as portfolio building and stock scanning) that are on by default and can be switched off individually
  • Remembers relevant context from earlier conversations
  • Choice of models from third-party providers such as OpenAI and Anthropic, changeable later in Agent settings
  • Agent Apps: optional third-party data subscriptions from providers such as Unusual Whales, Nasdaq, SpotGamma, Quiver Quantitative, and Token Terminal
  • Pause the agent's automations or disconnect it at any time

Limitations

  • Robinhood says it does not control, supervise, monitor, recommend, or audit agents. You are responsible for every trade the agent places and bear any losses
  • AI agents can make errors, misinterpret instructions, or act on incomplete or outdated information, and Robinhood does not guarantee the accuracy or suitability of agent output
  • Rolling out to eligible U.S. customers over time, so not every account has access yet
  • Requires an open primary Robinhood individual investing account, and you can currently have only one built-in agent
  • The full experience, including setup, chat, and Agent Apps, is available only in the Robinhood mobile app; agentic accounts may have limited usability on the web
  • Long orders only in equities, options, and crypto. Agentic accounts offer no margin borrowing, and the agent cannot transfer, stake, or lend crypto
  • Agent crypto trading requires a Robinhood Crypto account, is unavailable in some states including New York, and for built-in agents in California and Connecticut trade approvals must stay on for crypto trades
  • Loops (scheduled or continuous strategies) are announced as coming soon and are not yet available
  • Token costs vary by model and follow each provider's pricing, so they can change without notice when providers change prices. Agent App fees and trading fees are charged on top
  • Your requests are processed by the third-party model you choose, outside Robinhood's own environment, and Robinhood logs and retains all agent interactions
  • Robinhood's agreement warns that Agent App data can contain text designed to manipulate the agent, and with approvals off you get no chance to review a trade influenced by it
  • Pausing or disconnecting the agent does not cancel or reverse orders it has already submitted

Use cases

  • Asking the agent to analyze your portfolio's exposure and draft a rebalancing plan, then reviewing and placing each proposed order yourself
  • Researching a company before earnings by pulling its earnings history, call transcript, SEC filings, and analyst ratings in one chat
  • Building a watchlist or running a scan for stocks that match criteria you describe
  • Placing limit or stop orders in plain language from a separately funded Agentic account
  • Adding a paid Agent App, such as Unusual Whales options data or Quiver Quantitative government trading data, so the agent can use that data in its answers

Our take

Robinhood Agents puts an AI agent directly next to a live brokerage account, and that is both its appeal and its risk. Its controls are clear: a separately funded account, trade approvals on by default, and token pricing at each model's public rate, with GPT-6 Luna token costs covered for now. The built-in tools, from Level 2 quotes to SEC filings, give the agent Robinhood's own data rather than web search alone. But Robinhood states plainly that it does not supervise agents and that you own every loss, its agreement tells you not to deposit more than you are prepared to lose, and it warns that third-party app data can be written to manipulate the agent. Keeping approvals on is the only way to review each trade before it is placed. Loops, the feature that would run strategies unattended, have not shipped yet.

Who should use it

Robinhood customers who already trade on their own, want help with research and order entry, and are comfortable reviewing each proposed trade. It also suits people who want to try agentic trading from a separate balance before connecting an external agent through the Robinhood Trading MCP.

Who should skip it

Investors who want advice or a managed portfolio, anyone who cannot monitor an account an AI is trading in, customers outside the U.S., people who do not want their requests processed by a third-party model provider, and traders whose strategies depend on shorting or margin borrowing.

Strengths

  • No setup beyond the app: the agent comes already connected to Robinhood's trading tools and data
  • Orders are confined to a separately funded Agentic account, and trade approvals are on by default
  • Broad built-in data, including Level 2 quotes, SEC filings, earnings transcripts, and politician trades
  • Pay-as-you-go tokens at the model's public price, a $5 starting balance, and a GPT-6 Luna promotion that covers its token costs through 2026
  • You can also connect Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, and other agents through the Robinhood Trading MCP

Weaknesses

  • Robinhood does not supervise agents, and all trading losses are yours
  • Only for Robinhood customers, with the full experience limited to the mobile app
  • Long orders only, with no margin borrowing in Agentic accounts
  • Loops are not available yet
  • Costs add up across tokens, Agent App subscriptions, and trading fees

Free tier limits: Your first Agentic account receives a $5 starting token balance, and GPT-6 Luna token costs are covered during the promotion. Individual messages are still subject to token limits.

Note: Robinhood charges the selected model's public token cost, rounded to the nearest cent, from a prepaid balance paid from buying power in your primary individual investing account. The same prompt can cost different amounts on different models, and costs can change when a provider changes its prices. Unused paid tokens are refundable on request, but starting and promotional tokens are not. When the GPT-6 Luna promotion ends, standard token pricing applies, including to any active automations. Agent App prices at announcement were $30/month for Unusual Whales, $10/month for Nasdaq, SpotGamma, Wendy, Quiver Quantitative, Token Terminal, and SkyFi (coming soon), $8/month for Narravance, and $5/month for Visual Crossing, with Carbon Arc and Fiscal.ai coming soon. Free trials renew into paid subscriptions unless you unsubscribe, and the agent still uses tokens when it calls an app. Commissions, regulatory fees, and other trading costs apply separately.

Where Robinhood Agents excels

Supervised order entry

With trade approvals on, you can describe a trade or rebalance in plain language, let the agent prepare the orders, and place each one yourself after reviewing it.

Pre-earnings research

Built-in tools pull earnings history, call transcripts, SEC filings, and analyst ratings, so research that would otherwise mean several screens happens in one chat.

Testing specialist data

Most Agent Apps, such as Unusual Whales or Quiver Quantitative, come with a one-month free trial, so you can see whether the extra data is useful before the subscription renews at the monthly price.

Robinhood Agents vs. competitors

Robinhood Agents vs. TradingAgents

TradingAgents is an open-source research framework in which LLM agents debate a trading decision and send approved orders to a simulated exchange. Robinhood Agents is a consumer product that places real orders in a live Robinhood account.

Robinhood Agents vs. Claude

Claude is a general-purpose assistant. To trade on Robinhood, it connects to the Robinhood Trading MCP from Claude Code or Claude Desktop, which uses a separate MCP account with trade approvals off by default and no Agent Apps. Robinhood Agents runs inside the Robinhood app with no linking, approvals on by default, and Anthropic models among its options.

Robinhood Agents vs. ChatGPT

ChatGPT can connect to the Robinhood Trading MCP in Developer Mode as an external agent. Robinhood Agents offers OpenAI models inside Robinhood's own app, billed from a Robinhood token balance rather than a ChatGPT plan.

Frequently asked questions

What is Robinhood Agents?

Robinhood Agents is an AI agent you create inside the Robinhood mobile app. It runs on a model from a third-party provider that you choose, researches markets, analyzes your portfolio, and proposes or places trades in a dedicated Agentic account. The agent platform is provided by Robinhood Labs, LLC, which is not a broker-dealer or investment adviser, and brokerage services come from Robinhood Financial.

Who can use Robinhood Agents?

Eligible U.S. Robinhood customers with an open primary individual investing account. Robinhood says access is rolling out over time and it will notify you when it is available for your account. You can currently have one built-in agent, and the full experience is only in the mobile app.

How much does Robinhood Agents cost?

There is no separate subscription. Chatting with the agent uses tokens from a prepaid balance, and Robinhood charges the selected model's public token cost, rounded to the nearest cent. Your first Agentic account gets $5 in tokens, and purchases start at $1. GPT-6 Luna token costs are covered by a promotion from September 29 to December 31, 2026, which Robinhood can change or end early. Agent Apps, trading fees, and regulatory fees are extra.

Which AI models can a Robinhood agent use?

You choose from models by third-party providers such as OpenAI and Anthropic, and Robinhood says the available models may change. GPT-6 Luna is one of the models available at launch. Cost, speed, and reasoning ability vary by model, and you can switch models later in Agent settings.

Can a Robinhood agent trade without my approval?

Only if you let it. Trade approvals are on by default, so the agent proposes orders and you place them. If you turn approvals off, it can place eligible trades without asking, although some trades still require approval. For built-in agents in California and Connecticut, approvals must stay on for crypto trades.

What can a Robinhood agent trade?

Long positions in equities, options, and crypto, using market, limit, stop limit, and stop market orders, plus take-profit/stop-loss orders where eligible. Agentic accounts offer no margin borrowing, and the agent cannot transfer, stake, or lend crypto. Crypto trading through the agent requires a Robinhood Crypto account and is not available in some states, including New York.

Can I use Claude or ChatGPT with Robinhood instead?

Yes. Robinhood launched agentic trading for external agents in May 2026, and the Robinhood Trading MCP lets them trade from a separate MCP account. Robinhood's docs give setup steps for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, ChatGPT, Codex, Codex CLI, Cursor, and Grok, and also list Perplexity, OpenClaw, Replit, AWS Quick, and Poke. Trade approvals are off by default for MCP accounts, and Agent Apps work only with the built-in agent.

What are Robinhood Agent Apps?

Agent Apps are optional third-party data and tool subscriptions your built-in agent can use. At launch Robinhood listed apps such as Options Trader by Unusual Whales ($30/month), Investor Intelligence by Nasdaq ($10/month), Government Tracking by Quiver Quantitative ($10/month), and Weather Trader by Visual Crossing ($5/month). Most have a one-time one-month free trial that renews into a paid monthly subscription unless you unsubscribe. Fees are deducted from your primary individual investing account, and the agent still uses tokens when it uses an app.

What are Robinhood Loops?

Loops are an announced feature that will let your agent run a strategy on a schedule or continuously. Robinhood lists Loops as coming soon. Under its agreement, Loop runs are not charged tokens, a Loop can only propose trades while approvals are on, and with approvals off a Loop can keep placing trades until you pause or delete it.

About Robinhood Agents

Robinhood announced Robinhood Agents at HOOD Summit 2026 on September 29, 2026. It builds on agentic trading, which Robinhood launched in May 2026 so customers could connect their own AI agents through the Robinhood Trading MCP. Robinhood Agents moves the agent into the app itself, so there is nothing to link or configure. You name the agent, review the agreements, open a dedicated Agentic account (limited margin or cash), and pick a model from third-party providers such as OpenAI and Anthropic. You then chat with it in the app. It can read information about all your Robinhood accounts and pull live quotes, Level 2 order books, technical indicators, earnings transcripts, SEC filings, analyst ratings, and disclosed politician trades. It answers with interactive charts, tables, and order tickets, and it can build watchlists, scans, and alerts. It can trade only in its own Agentic account: long equities, options, and crypto, using market, limit, and stop orders. Trade approvals are on by default, so the agent proposes orders and you place them yourself. If you turn approvals off, it can place eligible trades without asking. Usage is prepaid: Robinhood charges each model's public token cost from a separate balance, your first Agentic account comes with $5 in tokens, and GPT-6 Luna token costs are covered by a promotion scheduled to run through December 31, 2026. Agent Apps add third-party data from 11 companies, including Unusual Whales, Nasdaq, SpotGamma, Quiver Quantitative, and Token Terminal, at up to $30 a month per app, and most offer a one-month free trial. Some of these apps are still listed as coming soon. Loops, which will let the agent run a strategy on a schedule or continuously, are announced but not yet available. Robinhood Labs, the entity that provides the agent, is not a broker-dealer or investment adviser and does not give investment advice. Robinhood says it does not control, supervise, monitor, or audit agents, that agent output can be wrong, and that you bear the losses. You need a primary Robinhood individual investing account, the full experience is mobile-only, you can currently have one built-in agent, and access is rolling out to eligible U.S. customers over time.
