Needle

Needle (Needle Technologies Inc.) · Needle: Agent-Native Outbound Engine That Lets Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor Run LinkedIn and Instagram Campaigns over MCP

Open Needle

Needle is an outbound engine with no agent of its own: it gives Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, Grok or any other MCP client 105 tools to search LinkedIn, Instagram and Maps listings for leads, build lists, and run LinkedIn and Instagram sequences from your own connected accounts under per-account sending limits. It suits founders, small sales and recruiting teams, and agencies who already work inside an AI agent and want it to run outreach without another AI SDR dashboard.

Best for

Founders, small sales, recruiting and partnerships teams, and agencies that prospect mainly on LinkedIn or Instagram, already work in Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or Cursor, and want their agent to build lists and run sequences with flat per-sender pricing instead of per-lead credits

Not ideal for

Teams whose outbound is mostly cold email or phone, buyers who need verified emails and phone numbers from a B2B database, organizations that want a fully managed AI SDR rather than tools driven by their own agent, and anyone unwilling to connect personal LinkedIn or Instagram accounts to an automation service

Who it's for

Founders who sell themselves, small sales, recruiting and partnerships teams, GTM engineers and outbound agencies who work inside an AI agent such as Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or Cursor

Capabilities

  • Remote MCP server (needle.app/mcp/v1) with 105 tools covering leads, campaigns, drafts, events, LinkedIn, Instagram, Places, compose, files, suppressions and webhooks
  • Browser OAuth sign-in for Claude (one-click custom connector), Claude Code, Cowork, ChatGPT developer mode, Codex, Cursor, Grok and OpenCode, with tokens that refresh on their own; an sk-ndl- API key in the Authorization header also works
  • LinkedIn lead sourcing: Classic and Sales Navigator people search, company, job and post search, and lists of people who reacted to or commented on a post
  • Instagram lead sourcing from post likes and comments or an account's followers, plus Places search for businesses by query or map area (name, address, website, phone, hours and rating)
  • Campaign sequences with LinkedIn steps (connection request, message, InMail, profile view, withdraw request) and Instagram steps (message, profile view, follow, unfollow), waits, branches, and wait-until-reply or wait-until-accepted conditions with timeouts
  • Sending on campaign days and hours local to each lead, with a set gap between sends and a different connected sender account bound to each step
  • AI message steps grounded in the lead's profile, posts, conversation history or lead properties, a compose tool to preview a message before sending, and optional draft approval before an AI-written step goes out
  • Per-action hourly, daily and weekly caps on every connected account that can be tightened or loosened but never removed, with refused calls returning the limit that was hit
  • Suppression list for people and company domains with hard and soft reasons and optional expiry, plus campaign rules to skip people contacted recently or who never replied
  • One-off actions outside campaigns: LinkedIn messages, connection requests, InMails with file attachments, post comments and reactions; Instagram messages, follows, comments, likes and posts
  • Unified inbox for team conversations with leads, with per-account access sharing and an event log that records which member sent, approved or changed what
  • Connect links that let agency clients link their LinkedIn or Instagram account (including 2FA) without joining the workspace or sharing a password
  • REST API at /api/v1 with an OpenAPI spec, up to 5 signed webhooks per workspace, and an onboarding SKILL.md and llms.txt written for agents

Limitations

  • LinkedIn and Instagram are the only documented sender channels; the homepage channel section shows email (Gmail, Outlook, custom), WhatsApp, SMS and phone calls as coming soon, although FAQ text on the site says email is supported today
  • Leads come from LinkedIn, Instagram and Places searches run through your connected accounts; no third-party contact database, email finding or phone enrichment is documented
  • Sales Navigator search and InMail require a Sales Navigator seat on the connected LinkedIn account, and InMails use that seat's monthly credits
  • Automates actions on your own LinkedIn and Instagram accounts, so you remain responsible for complying with those platforms' terms; Needle's docs say raising an account's caps above the defaults increases the risk of provider restrictions
  • Connecting a sender account is dashboard-only, so an agent cannot finish setup on its own
  • Pricing scales with sender accounts ($69 per account a month on Pro), so teams that send from many profiles pay per profile
  • No free plan after the 7-day, one-account trial
  • Needle supplies tools rather than an autonomous agent: targeting, copy quality and follow-through depend on the AI agent and model you drive it with
  • A new product: the outbound engine's v1.0 shipped on August 30, 2026, after the company's earlier pivots
  • No self-hosted deployment is documented; Enterprise lists a dedicated deployment on request

Use cases

  • Asking Claude or Codex to find founders at seed to Series A SaaS companies in one region, skip existing customers, and enroll them in a LinkedIn connection-and-message sequence
  • Turning the people who reacted to or commented on a competitor's LinkedIn post into a lead list and a campaign that references the post
  • Sourcing local businesses by category and city through Places, then reaching their owners on Instagram or LinkedIn
  • Recruiting: searching LinkedIn for candidates that match a role brief and sending InMails with the brief attached
  • Running outreach for several clients from one agency workspace, with clients connecting their own accounts through connect links
  • Reviewing AI-drafted messages in the unified inbox and approving them before they send

Our take

Needle is best understood as infrastructure for an agent rather than an agent itself. That is its strength: anyone already working in Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or Cursor gets a large, well-documented tool surface for LinkedIn and Instagram prospecting and sequencing, sold at a flat price per sender with no lead credits to manage, and guardrails that are written into the docs rather than promised in marketing. It is also the limit. The quality of targeting and copy is only as good as the agent and prompts driving it. Lead data is whatever your connected social accounts can see, with no email or phone enrichment. And email, which the site's own pages describe inconsistently, is not yet a documented channel. Teams that prospect on LinkedIn, especially agencies running many client profiles, get the most from it. Teams built around cold email, or buyers who want a hands-off AI SDR, should look elsewhere.

Who should use it

Founders and small teams that prospect for customers, candidates, investors or partners on LinkedIn or Instagram and already work in an AI agent; GTM engineers who want outbound primitives they can call from code or MCP; and agencies running outreach from many client profiles who want per-sender pricing and client connect links.

Who should skip it

Teams whose pipeline depends on cold email at volume or phone outreach, companies that need verified contact data from a B2B database, sales leaders who want a vendor-run AI SDR, and anyone whose policies rule out connecting personal LinkedIn or Instagram accounts to an automation tool.

Strengths

  • Works from the agent you already use, with browser OAuth for Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor and Grok, and the same capabilities over a REST API
  • Flat per-sender pricing with lead lists included and no per-lead credits or top-ups
  • Documented guardrails: per-action caps that cannot be removed, suppression lists with hard and soft reasons, and optional approval of AI-written drafts
  • Detailed sequence builder for LinkedIn and Instagram, including InMail, connection-request waits and branching, spread across multiple sender accounts
  • Agency features in the product and the price list: connect links for clients, per-account access sharing, half-price accounts after ten
  • Unusually thorough agent-facing docs: a full MCP tool catalog, an onboarding SKILL.md, llms.txt and an OpenAPI spec

Weaknesses

  • Email is not yet a documented channel (the homepage lists it as coming soon); LinkedIn and Instagram are the only documented senders
  • No contact database or email and phone enrichment; lead data comes from the social accounts you connect
  • Costs rise with every sender profile you connect
  • Relies on automating personal LinkedIn and Instagram accounts, which carries platform-restriction risk the docs acknowledge
  • Results depend on the agent and model driving it, since Needle itself does not plan or write campaigns on its own
  • Young product from a company that has pivoted twice

Where Needle excels

Founder-led outbound from Claude

A founder who already keeps their ICP and positioning in Claude can have it search LinkedIn, skip existing customers and launch a sequence in one session, without learning a separate sequencing tool.

Agency outreach across client profiles

Connect links, per-account access and half-price accounts after ten let an agency run campaigns from many client LinkedIn and Instagram profiles in one workspace.

Engagement-based lists from competitor posts

Pulling the people who react to or comment on a competitor's or influencer's post gives a list with a built-in reason to reach out, which the agent can reference in the first message.

Recruiting outreach with InMail

With a Sales Navigator seat, an agent can search candidates with Sales Navigator filters and send InMails with a role brief attached, under the account's caps.

Needle vs. competitors

Needle vs. Pancake

Pancake is also driven from Claude, ChatGPT or Codex over MCP, but it is more opinionated: scheduled, signal-based Plays search 30+ bundled data providers, explain why each lead fits, and send up to three LinkedIn messages only after you approve each lead, on a credit plan from $99 a month per workspace. Needle gives the agent lower-level LinkedIn, Instagram and Places tools and longer multi-step sequences, priced per sender account without credits.

Needle vs. AgentSDR

AgentSDR is a free, MIT-licensed AI SDR you host yourself, running email, LinkedIn and WhatsApp outreach with your own data-provider accounts and an AI CRM that drafts replies. Needle is hosted and paid per sender, documents LinkedIn and Instagram rather than email, and is driven by an external AI agent over MCP instead of its own app.

Needle vs. 11x

11x sells autonomous AI digital workers on annual contracts, with Alice running outbound across email, LinkedIn and phone from its own data. Needle is not an AI SDR: it supplies tools and guardrails to an agent you already run, with self-serve per-sender pricing.

Frequently asked questions

What is Needle?

Needle (needle.app) is an outbound sales engine built for AI agents. It exposes lead search, list building, LinkedIn and Instagram messaging, campaign sequencing, suppressions and analytics as an MCP server and REST API, so an agent such as Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or Cursor can find leads and run outreach from your own connected accounts. A web dashboard handles account connection, the team inbox and settings.

How much does Needle cost?

Needle charges per connected sender account. A 7-day trial with one account needs no card. Pro costs $69 per account per month for 1 to 10 accounts and includes lead lists, unlimited campaigns, safety limits and warm-up, the unified inbox and API access. The Agency plan (11 to 50 accounts) charges the Pro rate for the first 10 and $34 a month for each extra account. Enterprise (51+ accounts) is custom. Yearly billing is discounted, and there are no per-lead credits.

Which AI agents work with Needle?

Needle's MCP docs give setup steps for Claude on the web and desktop (one-click custom connector), ChatGPT in developer mode, Codex, Cursor, Grok, Grok Bot and OpenCode, and say it works with Claude Code, Cowork, Hermes or any MCP client. Clients sign in with OAuth in the browser; an API key in the Authorization header is the alternative.

Where does Needle get its leads?

From searches run through your connected accounts: LinkedIn people, company, job and post search (Sales Navigator search needs a Sales Navigator seat), people who reacted to or commented on LinkedIn posts, Instagram post likes, comments and followers, and Places, which finds businesses by category and city as they appear on maps. Needle does not document a third-party contact database or email finding.

Does Needle support email outreach?

Not as a documented feature yet. FAQ text on Needle's homepage and pricing page says email is supported today, but the homepage channel section lists Gmail, Outlook and custom email as coming soon, alongside WhatsApp, SMS and phone calls, and the developer documentation, MCP tool catalog and changelog describe only LinkedIn and Instagram as sender accounts and campaign channels. Confirm email support with Needle before relying on it.

Will Needle get my LinkedIn account restricted?

Needle cannot guarantee it won't. It sends from your own LinkedIn and Instagram accounts, applies hourly, daily and weekly caps per action that you can tighten or loosen but not remove, and says it adds warm-up and human-like cadence for new senders. Its docs note that raising caps above the defaults increases the risk of restrictions from those platforms.

Is Needle an AI SDR?

Needle says it is not. It has no autonomous agent deciding who to contact; your own AI agent does the targeting and drafting, and Needle supplies the lead search, sending infrastructure and guardrails. Products such as 11x or Artisan sell a managed AI SDR that runs outbound on its own.

Needle vs Pancake: what is the difference?

Both let an AI agent drive LinkedIn outreach over MCP. Pancake runs scheduled, signal-based searches across 30+ bundled data providers, gives each lead a reason, and sends a short LinkedIn sequence only after you approve the lead, on a credit plan priced per workspace. Needle exposes lower-level tools for LinkedIn, Instagram and Places, lets you build longer multi-step, multi-account sequences, and charges per sender account with no credits.

Alternatives to consider

About Needle

Needle's pitch is that the agent you already use knows your ideal customer, your documents and your voice, and only lacks the hands to do outbound. Needle supplies them as a remote MCP server at needle.app/mcp/v1 and a matching REST API. Claude adds it in one click as a custom connector; ChatGPT (developer mode), Codex, Cursor, Grok, OpenCode and other clients sign in with OAuth in the browser, and an API key works too. You connect the LinkedIn or Instagram accounts you will send from in Needle's web dashboard (this step cannot be done over the API), then ask your agent for something like "find Heads of Sales at Series A SaaS companies in Berlin and start a LinkedIn sequence." The agent calls Needle's tools to search LinkedIn people (Classic search, or Sales Navigator if the connected account has a seat), companies, jobs and posts, pull the people who reacted to or commented on a post, search Maps-style business listings by category and city, check everyone against a do-not-contact list, and save the results as leads. It then creates a campaign: a sequence of LinkedIn steps (connection request, message, InMail, profile view, withdraw request) and Instagram steps (message, profile view, follow, unfollow) with waits, branches and reply conditions, sending on a schedule local to each lead and spread across several sender accounts. Message steps can be fixed templates or AI prompts grounded in the lead's profile, posts and past conversation, and an AI step can be held as a draft until a teammate approves it in Needle's unified inbox. Guardrails are the product's main safety claim: every action has hourly, daily and weekly caps that can be tightened or loosened but never removed, the docs warn that raising them above the defaults increases the risk of restrictions from LinkedIn or Instagram, and the site adds warm-up for new senders and human-like cadence. Pricing is per connected sender account ($69 a month on Pro, half price for each account beyond ten on the Agency plan) with lead lists included and no per-lead credits, after a 7-day trial that needs no card. The tradeoffs follow from that design. Lead data comes from the social accounts you connect rather than a contact database, so no email finding or phone data is documented. Email is not yet a documented channel: FAQ text on the site says email works today, but the homepage channel section lists Gmail, Outlook and custom email (with WhatsApp, SMS and phone calls) as coming soon, and the developer docs cover only LinkedIn and Instagram senders. And the engine is new: version 1.0 shipped on August 30, 2026, from a Berlin team whose About page describes two earlier pivots (the former needle-ai.com domain, home to its earlier retrieval product, now redirects here).

Updates from Needle

MilestoneNeedle launches on Product Hunt
