Pancake (Basalt AI Inc.) · Pancake: Always-On GTM Plays That Find Warm Leads and Start LinkedIn Conversations, Run From Claude, ChatGPT or Codex

Open Pancake

Pancake is a hosted go-to-market platform that turns a one-sentence targeting idea into a Play: a scheduled search that keeps finding leads with a buying signal, explains why each one fits, and, once you approve a lead, sends a short LinkedIn sequence from your own account. It suits founders who sell themselves, small B2B teams and agencies, especially those who already work in Claude, ChatGPT or Codex and want to drive it over MCP.

Best for

Founders doing their own sales, small B2B teams, agencies and GTM engineers who sell through LinkedIn, want signal-based lead finding without buying and wiring data providers, are happy to approve each lead, and like to work from Claude, ChatGPT or Codex

Not ideal for

Teams whose outbound depends on cold email, phone or multichannel sequences, sales orgs that need CRM sync and deliverability tooling, anyone wanting a fully autonomous SDR that contacts prospects without per-lead approval, and Cursor-only users

Who it's for

Founders who do their own sales, small B2B teams, agencies and GTM engineers, especially those already working with an AI agent such as Claude or Codex

Capabilities

  • GTM Brain built from your website: offering, ideal customers, personas, competitors, messaging and voice, shared by every Play and editable by you
  • Plays created from one sentence in the web app or from an AI agent, with Pancake asking clarifying questions and showing the plan and credit estimate before a search runs
  • Eight lead sources: engagers on competitor, expert or own-brand posts, reactors to one specific post, people posting about chosen topics, companies hiring for a role, companies using a technology, recently funded companies, lookalikes of your best customers, and role, industry, size and location matches
  • Scheduled searches (daily, weekdays, weekly or custom) of up to 50 leads each, with every lead checked against the Brain and given one line on why it fits
  • 30+ data providers included in the plan, among them Dealroom, TheirStack, Coresignal, Wappalyzer, Apify and Firecrawl, with no separate data contracts or API keys
  • Search transparency: every step of a search is shown, including why people were set aside, plus a per-Play activity log and reply rate
  • Lead approval in the app or in Slack, and an 08:30 email digest of what is waiting
  • Personal message per lead written from its signal, in your voice or from your own template, editable before it sends
  • LinkedIn sequences from your own account: a light warm-up then up to three messages on weekdays between 09:00 and 18:00 in your time zone, with a ten-minute undo after a lead is added
  • Sender rotation across up to ten accounts per Play, with each lead kept on the same sender
  • Reply handling: a reply stops the sequence and is labelled positive, in your hands or not interested
  • Feedback loop: rejecting a lead with a reason produces suggested Brain changes you can accept or ignore
  • Remote MCP server with about 90 tools and browser OAuth (no API key) for Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex and other compatible clients, plus official plugins for Claude Code and Codex and four agent skills that also install in Factory Droid and other agents

Limitations

  • LinkedIn is the only outreach channel in the official agent docs. Pancake says it does not send outreach by email, make calls or look up phone numbers
  • No CRM sync and no website-visitor identification, by Pancake's own statement of product boundaries
  • Sends from your personal LinkedIn account, so any limits or restrictions LinkedIn places on that account affect your Plays; Pancake's public pages do not publish per-account daily sending caps
  • Credit use per lead is an estimate (about 100 to 500 credits of research per lead, plus 50 credits per work email found), and narrow audiences cost more, so the number of leads per month is not fixed
  • When credits run out, searches pause until you move up a level, start the next month early or the plan renews; there is no overage option
  • Only one sending account is included; each extra one is $39 a month, and a second company or brand needs a second workspace with its own plan
  • The 7-day trial requires a credit card, and payments are non-refundable except where the law requires
  • Cursor cannot connect to the MCP server yet, ChatGPT access depends on your ChatGPT plan and workspace allowing custom servers, and other clients need remote Streamable HTTP plus browser OAuth with client ID metadata document support
  • Hosted only; no self-hosted deployment is documented
  • A young product: the company pivoted from Basalt, an AI observability platform, in 2026, and repositioned Pancake again with its October 14, 2026 relaunch

Use cases

  • Tracking a competitor's LinkedIn posts and approving the people who engage with them for a short, signal-led outreach sequence
  • Finding founders of recently funded startups that are hiring for a role your service supports, and getting new matches every morning
  • Asking Claude or Codex to build a Play, show its credit cost, run it and summarize yesterday's leads best-fit first, without opening the Pancake app
  • Running a separate Play for each audience an agency or consultancy sells to, all drawing on the same Brain
  • Reviewing and approving new leads from Slack, and rejecting poor fits with a reason so the Brain's ideal customer profile improves

Our take

Pancake's strongest idea is the Play as a standing search with a reason attached to every lead. Instead of buying a database and building sequences, you describe an audience by what it is doing right now, and Pancake keeps surfacing people who match, shows its work, and waits for your yes before anyone is contacted. That makes it a good fit for founder-led sales on LinkedIn, and the MCP server is unusually well documented for driving it from Claude or Codex. The narrowness is the tradeoff: no email, no calls, no CRM sync, so it covers the top of the funnel and the first touch, not a full sales-engagement stack. Credits make the cost per lead variable, so start with the trial and one Play to see what a lead costs for your audience before scaling up, and remember that every message goes out from your own LinkedIn account.

Who should use it

Founders and small B2B teams that find buyers on LinkedIn, agencies and consultancies running several audiences, and GTM engineers who want a hosted lead-finding and outreach layer they can control from an AI agent.

Who should skip it

Teams that rely on cold email or phone outreach, sales organizations that need CRM sync, deliverability tooling and multichannel sequences, and anyone who wants an AI SDR that contacts prospects without approving each lead.

Strengths

  • Every lead comes with a stated reason and the search steps behind it, which makes approval quick and auditable
  • Data providers are bundled into one credit plan, with no per-seat fees and the whole team included
  • Clear human-in-the-loop line: nobody is contacted until you approve the lead, and messages can be edited before sending
  • First-class MCP access with browser sign-in, official plugins and skills, so the same Plays can be run from Claude, ChatGPT or Codex
  • No overage billing: searches pause when credits run out, and unused credits roll over up to one month

Weaknesses

  • LinkedIn only for outreach; no email, calls or CRM sync
  • Lead volume per month depends on credit cost per search, which varies with how narrow the audience is
  • Extra sending accounts and extra brands add cost ($39 per sender, a new plan per workspace)
  • Young product that changed direction recently, so features and positioning may keep moving

Note: Credits pay for the research a search does (Pancake estimates about 100 to 500 credits per lead, more for narrow audiences, and shows an estimate before each search) and 50 credits per work email found. Building and testing Plays, messages, replies and teammates use no credits. Unused credits roll over, up to one month of credits. When credits run out, searches pause; there is no overage and no automatic top-up. A second company or brand needs its own workspace and plan. Payments are non-refundable except where required by law.

Where Pancake excels

Founder-led sales without a BDR

A founder can let a few Plays search every night for funded companies, hiring signals or people engaging with a competitor, then spend a few minutes approving leads in Slack while Pancake handles the first LinkedIn messages and follow-ups.

Agency prospecting by audience

An agency can run one Play per niche it serves from a single Brain, see each Play's reply rate, and pause the ones that do not work, with the whole team on one workspace and no seat fees.

Outbound driven from an AI agent

Teams that already plan GTM in Claude or Codex can ask the agent to design a Play, show its credit cost, run it and review the results, while Pancake keeps the Play running on its servers after the chat ends.

Pancake vs. competitors

Pancake vs. 11x

11x's Alice is a managed AI SDR that researches prospects and runs outreach across email, LinkedIn and phone with a built-in lead database, aimed at teams scaling a proven outbound motion. Pancake is self-serve from $99 a month, sends only on LinkedIn, and requires approval of each lead, with every lead tied to the signal that surfaced it.

Pancake vs. Artisan

Artisan's Ava is an AI BDR with a large contact database that writes and runs email and LinkedIn sequences and handles replies. Pancake has no email channel and no contact database to browse; it finds leads through scheduled signal searches across bundled data providers, sends only on LinkedIn, and leaves each contact decision to you.

Pancake vs. AgentSDR

AgentSDR is free, self-hosted software for email, LinkedIn and WhatsApp outreach where you bring your own data providers, model keys and Unipile account, and its AI focuses on classifying replies and drafting answers. Pancake is hosted and paid, finds and qualifies leads for you with included data, and writes the first-touch message, but sends only on LinkedIn.

Frequently asked questions

What is Pancake?

Pancake is a hosted GTM platform. It learns your business from your website, then runs Plays: scheduled searches that find people with a buying signal, such as engaging with a competitor's posts, working at a newly funded company or a company hiring for a role. Each lead comes with a reason it fits, and after you approve it, Pancake sends a short, personal LinkedIn sequence from your own account.

How much does Pancake cost?

Self-serve is one plan from $99 a month per workspace with 60,000 credits. Higher levels are 120,000 credits for $189, 240,000 for $359, 480,000 for $679 and 960,000 for $1,299 a month. Credits pay for lead research and for each work email found (50 credits); building Plays, messages and replies use none. Pancake estimates 60,000 credits at about 120 to 600 leads a month. One sending account is included and each extra one is $39 a month. White Glove, where Pancake's team builds and runs your Plays with unlimited credits, is $3,000 a month with a three-month initial commitment, and Enterprise is custom.

Does Pancake send cold email?

No. Pancake states that it does not send outreach by email. Its official agent docs describe each Play's sequence as a LinkedIn sequence sent from the LinkedIn accounts you connect. It also does not make calls, look up phone numbers or sync leads to a CRM.

Does Pancake contact people without my approval?

No. Plays search for and qualify leads automatically on their schedule, but you approve every lead before anyone is contacted, and you can read and edit each message first. After you add a lead to a sequence, nothing goes out for ten minutes so you can undo. A reply stops the sequence.

Can I use Pancake from Claude, ChatGPT or Codex?

Yes, on the same plan. Pancake runs a remote MCP server at app.pancake.ai/api/mcp with browser sign-in and no API key. Claude (web, desktop and mobile), Claude Code, ChatGPT and Codex are documented, though ChatGPT needs a plan and workspace that allow custom servers. Official plugins exist for Claude Code and Codex, and Pancake's four agent skills also install in Factory Droid and other agents. From the agent you can create and run Plays, review leads and edit messages. Cursor cannot connect yet.

Do I need my own data provider accounts or API keys?

No. The plan includes 30+ data providers, such as Dealroom, TheirStack and Coresignal, paid for through Pancake credits. You only connect the LinkedIn accounts you send from.

Pancake vs 11x: what is the difference?

11x sells Alice, an AI SDR that runs outbound end to end across email, LinkedIn and phone with its own lead database. Pancake is self-serve from $99 a month, sends only on LinkedIn, and keeps you in the loop by asking you to approve every lead, with each lead explained by the signal that surfaced it.

About Pancake

Pancake starts by reading your website and building a GTM Brain: what you sell, your ideal customers, personas, competitors, messaging and voice. You then describe who you want to reach, in the Pancake web app or from an AI agent connected over MCP, and Pancake asks a clarifying question or two before saving a Play. A Play finds people one of eight ways: people engaging with posts by a competitor, an expert or your own brand, everyone who reacted to one post, people posting about chosen topics, companies hiring for a role, companies using a technology, recently funded companies, lookalikes of your best customers, or a straight role, industry, size and location match. Each search returns up to 50 leads, checks them against the Brain, and gives every lead one line on why it fits, drawing on 30+ data providers such as Dealroom, TheirStack, Coresignal and Wappalyzer that are included in the plan. The Play then runs on the schedule you pick, so new leads arrive in the app, in Slack or in a morning email digest. The agentic part has a clear boundary: searching is automatic, contact is not. You approve every lead, Pancake drafts a personal message from the lead's signal in your voice, and you can edit it before it goes out. Approved leads get a light warm-up and up to three LinkedIn messages, sent on weekdays during working hours from your own account (or rotated across up to ten), with a ten-minute undo window after enrolment. A reply stops the sequence and is labelled for you. Pancake is deliberately narrow: by its own statement of product boundaries, it does not send outreach by email, sync to a CRM, identify website visitors, look up phone numbers or make calls. Pricing is one self-serve plan from $99 a month per workspace with 60,000 credits, where credits pay for lead research and work-email lookups, plus a $3,000-a-month White Glove service and custom Enterprise pricing. The company was previously Basalt, an AI observability startup, announced the pivot to Pancake in July 2026 and relaunched it as "the Vercel for GTM" in October 2026, so expect the product to keep changing.

Updates from Pancake

LaunchPancake relaunches as "The Vercel for GTM"

Pancake launched on Product Hunt as "The Vercel for GTM", positioning Plays as GTM ideas that are designed in any AI agent, deployed to Pancake and kept running on a schedule, with the same Plays, leads and credits available from Claude, ChatGPT, Codex and the web app.

UpdateBasalt becomes Pancake

The founders announced that Basalt, their AI observability and evaluation platform, had become Pancake, after the agent tooling they built to run their own operations drew more customer interest than the original product. Pancake has since narrowed its focus to finding buyers for small B2B teams.
